inside edge: the darker line
RFI → RFI. A skater who rotates the other way traces LFI: the same element, generated from this one.

Forwards on an inside edge, one rotation, out on the same edge. Most skaters twizzle from here first, because an inside edge is already turning the way the body wants to go and there is less rotation to find.

Which is also the trap. Rotation that arrives free is rotation you have not learned to meter, and it shows as a twizzle that does most of its turning in the first half and coasts through the second. Even rotation looks slower than it is and is much harder.

Derived

RFI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, forwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RFI twizzle to RFI: one rotation on one foot, travelling, leaving one curl in the tracing and no cusp anywhere. The lobe continues, because a curl cannot curve against itself.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LFI. Same element, mirrored.
