outside edge: the paler line
RFO → RFO. A skater who rotates the other way traces LFO: the same element, generated from this one.

One rotation on a forward outside edge, finishing on the edge it began on and still going the same way. That makes it the honest place to learn one: nothing about the exit has to be relearned, and the only new thing is the rotation itself.

The edge is where it goes wrong. A forward outside edge is already leaning into its circle and the rotation wants to take that lean with it, so the usual failure is the free side opening halfway round and the blade settling onto a flat. The tracing will tell you which happened. A curl means you rotated over the blade; a scallop means you skidded across it.

Derived

RFO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, forwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RFO twizzle to RFO: one rotation on one foot, travelling, leaving one curl in the tracing and no cusp anywhere. The lobe continues, because a curl cannot curve against itself.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LFO. Same element, mirrored.
