The level where the syllabus stops adding edges and starts combining them. Most of Skills 3 has appeared before in some form, and what is new is that it arrives attached: a three turn onto a held back outside edge and from there into backward cross rolls, three turns taken from a crossed step on the back inside edge, a change of edge held for half a circle.

Two things appear here for the first time. The twizzle is the first turn in the syllabus to make a full rotation, turned continuously as the foot travels; every turn before it is a half turn. The spiral is the first element judged on a shape the body makes, where everything before it is judged on a curve the blade draws.

From 01/10/2026 the twizzle gets a second exercise at one and a half rotations, and the spiral exercise loses its one genuinely awkward requirement: the hop was compulsory and becomes a choice.

Exercises

  1. Forward changes of edgeForward changes of edge held for half a circle, entered from an open chassé on one side and from a crossover on the other.
  2. Multi-directional 3-turnsAll four forward 3-turns and both backward inside ones on the first side, and 3-turns run into open mohawks on the second.
  3. Backward cross rollsA forward 3-turn into a held back outside edge, rolled from there into backward cross rolls on both feet.
  4. Forward inside twizzleA single forward inside twizzle on each foot, from a stationary start, with the axis left to the skater.
  5. Forward spiralschanges 01/10/2026A serpentine of closed mohawks and crossovers into a forward outside spiral on each foot, held for three seconds.
  6. Forward inside 1 ½ twizzlenew 01/10/2026A one and a half rotation twizzle on each forward inside edge, leaving the skater travelling backwards.
