inside edge: the darker line
RFI → RBI. A skater who rotates the other way traces LFI: the same element, generated from this one.

Forwards on the inside edge, rotating away from the circle, out backwards on the inside edge and onto a new lobe. The exit is a back inside edge, which is the least practised edge there is, so this turn tends to be judged by what happens in the two seconds after it.

A counter starts its new lobe at the cusp. If yours begins later, what you did was a rotation.

Derived

RFI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, forwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RFI counter to RBI: the edge holds, the skater rotates against it, and the lobe reverses.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LFI. Same element, mirrored.
