RFI → RBO → RFI → LBI. A skater who rotates the other way traces LFI: the same element, generated from this one.

Two three turns on one foot and then a change of foot, entering forwards, with nothing between any of them. By the time the mohawk arrives the lobe has been shortened twice and whatever speed the two turns cost has already gone.

So the free foot has to be found early. It cannot be placed after the second turn, because a step is instantaneous and there is no glide to find it in; it has to be waiting through the second turn, which is the turn most likely to need the whole body’s attention. Skaters who get the double right and the mohawk wrong have almost always been thinking about them in that order.

Derived

RFI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, forwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RFI, three turn to RBO, then three turn to RFI, then mohawk to LBI. 3 turns on two feet, and the skater finishes on LBI.

Nothing above is stored on this page. The cluster records its entry edge and the order of its turns; every edge in between is chained out of the same rule that draws a single turn.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LFI. Same element, mirrored.
