outside edge: the paler line
RFO → LFO. A skater who rotates the other way traces LFO: the same element, generated from this one.

The free foot swings in from the side, passes the skating foot and goes down on its own outside edge. Because the new edge is outside on the other foot, the curve reverses. One lobe ends and the next begins as the feet cross.

It is the most expressive way of getting from one lobe to the next and the least forgiving, because the whole transfer happens over an outside edge with the body already leaning the new way. Lean late and it becomes a step; lean early and you fall into the new lobe. Timed right, you roll into it.

Derived

RFO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, forwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RFO cross roll to LFO: the skater steps onto the other foot, the direction of travel does not change, and the lobe reverses.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LFO. Same element, mirrored.
