inside edge: the darker line
RBI → LBI. A skater who rotates the other way traces LBI: the same element, generated from this one.

Backwards on an inside edge, stepping wide onto the other foot’s inside edge. The weight goes across, the first foot leaves the ice, and the lobe reverses because the foot changed and the edge did not.

Backwards it is harder for the ordinary reason, that you cannot see where the foot is going, and for one particular to this. A back inside edge holds less than any of the other three, and you are asking one to take your whole weight at the moment it arrives. Most of the wobble here is an arriving foot put down late and flat. It has to be on its edge from the first instant.

It runs through six of the eight Skills tests, usually between two backward lobes and usually followed by a push back onto an outside edge.

Derived

RBI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RBI step wide to LBI: the skater steps onto the other foot, the direction of travel does not change, and the lobe reverses.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LBI. Same element, mirrored.
