A rocker from a backward edge into a choctaw. The lobe reverses at the rocker and reverses again at the step, so the skater finishes curving the way they started while having crossed the ice.
The choctaw is the harder half. Changing foot and lean at the same instant is difficult from a settled edge and worse from one you have just turned onto, and hesitation shows as a flat between the two lobes.
Derived
RBI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.
RBI, rocker to RFI, then choctaw to LBO. 2 turns on two feet, and the skater finishes on LBO.
Nothing above is stored on this page. The cluster records its entry edge and the order of its turns; every edge in between is chained out of the same rule that draws a single turn.
A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LBI. Same element, mirrored.
Build on
- Right backward inside rockerRBI to RFI: half a turn into the circle, holding the edge and leaving on a new one.
- Right forward inside choctawRFI to LBO: a step onto the other foot, changing edge and reversing onto a new one. No cusp.
