RBO → RFI. A skater who rotates the other way traces LBO: the same element, generated from this one.

shoulder to hip —on the —
RBO · the blade turning half a circle on its edge, the cusp in the tracing · RFI. Negative twist means the shoulders are held back against the hips, which stores rotation before a takeoff and checks it on a landing.

Backwards on the outside edge, rotating into the circle, out forwards on the inside edge. Entering backwards changes the problem entirely: you cannot watch the turn coming, so the timing has to be felt.

The rotation itself is small. What takes the practice is arriving at it on a real edge, with no flat before it, and not letting the free leg wind up beforehand. If the free side leads, the free leg decides where the turn happens, and you do not.

Derived

RBO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RBO three turn to RFI: the edge changes, the skater rotates into the circle, and the lobe continues.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LBO. Same element, mirrored.
