outside edge: the paler line
RBO → RBO. A skater who rotates the other way traces LBO: the same element, generated from this one.

A loop entered backwards on the outside edge. Blind, and the whole figure happens in a couple of seconds with no chance to correct it once begun.

This is where the knee does the work. The loop is drawn by rising and sinking over a continuous edge, and pushing adds nothing to it. Anything added with the shoulders shows up as a flat spot on the far side of the circle, where you cannot see it.

Derived

RBO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RBO loop to RBO: the blade traces a small circle and comes back to the edge it left, the direction of travel does not change, and the lobe continues.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LBO. Same element, mirrored.
