RFO → RBI → RFO → RBI. A skater who rotates the other way traces LFO: the same element, generated from this one.

Three three turns on one foot, entering forwards, with nothing in between them. Each turn shortens the lobe it is standing on, so the third has the least edge under it and the least speed to work with. That is the whole difficulty, and it is a matter of arithmetic.

Where the free foot goes decides it. Two turns can be absorbed by a free side that swings a little each time; three cannot, and a leg that has drifted by the third turn takes the shoulders with it. Hold it still and turn under it.

The tell is a pivot. A third turn forced round by the body leaves a scrape where the cusp should be, and the tracing shows all three marks side by side for comparison.

Derived

RFO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, forwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RFO, three turn to RBI, then three turn to RFO, then three turn to RBI. 3 turns on one foot, and the skater finishes on RBI.

Nothing above is stored on this page. The cluster records its entry edge and the order of its turns; every edge in between is chained out of the same rule that draws a single turn.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LFO. Same element, mirrored.
