Forwards, the free foot placed on the ice beside the skating foot with nothing crossing, and the old skating foot lifted with the blade parallel to the ice. The tracing is a crossover’s (same circle, same change of foot and edge) and the feet are doing something quite different.
Worth stating plainly: this guide draws what the blades draw, and here the blades draw the same thing. The difference is placement, and placement is what the body-frame view is for. Open, slip and slide chassés differ from one another the same way.
Derived
RFO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, forwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.
RFO chassé to LFI: the skater steps onto the other foot, the direction of travel does not change, and the lobe continues.
A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LFO. Same element, mirrored.

- Right forward outside edgeRFO: the right foot travelling forwards on an outside edge, tracing a clockwise lobe.
- Forward strokingBritish Ice Skating defines a chassé as two edges, the free foot put down next to the skating foot for the second and then lifted with its blade level.
