RBI → LBO. A skater who rotates the other way traces LBI: the same element, generated from this one.

Backwards on an inside edge. The skating foot pushes against that edge and you arrive backwards on the other foot’s outside edge, which is the strong one: checked, and able to hold its curve for as long as you ask.

This draws the tracing a backward stroke draws, because it is the same push. It counts as an element here because both ends are named. Backward stroking is how you push at all; this is that push taken from a back inside edge onto a back outside one, which is what the syllabus asks for and where it asks for it. The guide says they are the same, which is the answer it also gives for a crossover against a chassé.

British Ice Skating write it both as a push back and as transferring the weight back. They are one movement.

Derived

RBI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

RBI push back to LBO: the skater steps onto the other foot, the direction of travel does not change, and the lobe continues.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LBI. Same element, mirrored.
