Crossed behind the skating foot, and that one detail is the whole element. The foot still goes down on the outer edge side of the skating foot and the legs still cross below the knee; what changes is that you are stepping past your own heel, onto a blade you cannot see.
Turnout is what it costs. Crossing behind closes the hips towards the circle, so a skater who has not opened them beforehand arrives with the new foot square to the old one and nothing to stand on. The knees are the honest place to look: legs that cross high have hinged from the hip, and the step will be a stumble however tidy the feet look.
It draws a cross roll’s tracing. Where the foot goes is the difference, and no blade records that.
Derived
LFO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): left foot, forwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.
LFO crossed step behind to RFO: the skater steps onto the other foot, the direction of travel does not change, and the lobe reverses.
A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from RFO. Same element, mirrored.

- Half-swizzle pumpsThe same circle, with the free foot crossing behind the skating foot, which British Ice Skating defines as a crossed step behind.
