outside edge: the paler lineinside edge: the darker line
LBI → LFO. A skater who rotates the other way traces RBI: the same element, generated from this one.

Backwards on an inside edge, two and a half rotations. The hardest of the four to begin, because a backward inside edge gives the least help of any entry and this one needs help for longest.

Watch the first curl. If it is bigger than the second, the rotation was thrown, and the half at the end will be a scrape however good the middle looked. The tracing records the whole argument: three marks, the last of them incomplete, evenly spaced along a lobe that has not been allowed to open out.

Derived

LBI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): left foot, backwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

LBI 2½ twizzle to LFO: 2½ rotations on one foot, travelling, leaving 2 curls in the tracing and no cusp anywhere. The lobe continues, and the half rotation turns the skater to face the other way, which is why the edge letter changes without the blade ever changing which way it curves.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from RBI. Same element, mirrored.
