inside edge: the darker line
LFI → LFI. A skater who rotates the other way traces RFI: the same element, generated from this one.

A loop on a forward inside edge: the same small circle, curving the other way. The free side has less room here than on an outside loop, and crowding it is what turns a round loop into an egg.

Practise it as a shape, drawn on the ice. A loop is judged on the tracing it leaves, and there is nowhere for a wobble to hide in a closed curve.

Derived

LFI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): left foot, forwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

LFI loop to LFI: the blade traces a small circle and comes back to the edge it left, the direction of travel does not change, and the lobe continues.

A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from RFI. Same element, mirrored.
