Double loop
RBO takeoff, off the edge, 2 rotations to RBO.
Also called 2Lo. Other names.
Not checked yet. The mechanics on this page are a first draft by a non-expert, and no coach has seen them yet. Read them as a starting point and check them with a coach. Corrections are very welcome.
The loop with a second turn, and still nothing to help: no pick to vault off and no swing to borrow rotation from. Everything comes from the edge and from how quickly you pull in once you are off it.
That makes it a test of the takeoff edge more than of the air. A double loop that falls short usually left the ice on an edge that was already turning, so the rotation was spent before the jump began.
It shares its takeoff with the double toe loop, and seen from above the two leave from the same curve. From the side, one has a pick going in. The landing is the back outside edge every jump here but the Euler lands on, which is also the edge the loop leaves from.
Derived
RBO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.
Takes off RBO and lands RBO, the same edge every jump in this guide but the Euler lands on, so the takeoff is what tells them apart. The spring comes from the edge, with no pick.
Shares its takeoff edge with the double toe loop: the pair that get mistaken for each other.
The loop with one more turn in the air: the same takeoff and the same landing.
Lands on RBO, where the toe loop and the loop take off, so it can start a combination: double loop + double toe loop or double loop + double loop.
Takes off from RBO, the edge every other jump here lands on, so it can follow any of them in a jump combination.
A skater who rotates clockwise takes off LBO and lands LBO: the same jump, mirrored.
