Backwards on the inside edge, stepping onto the other foot to run forwards on its inside edge, still on the same circle. Less used than the forward inside mohawk and more awkward for the same reason every back inside entry is awkward: the free leg is on the inside of the circle with nowhere to sit.
It is worth practising anyway, because it is the exit half of what the forward inside mohawk teaches, and a skater who can only go one way through the change of foot has learnt half a move.
Derived
RBI is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, inside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.
RBI mohawk to LFI: the skater steps onto the other foot, the edge holds, and the lobe continues. There is no cusp, because nothing pivots.
A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LBI. Same element, mirrored.
Build on
- Right backward inside edgeRBI: the right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge, tracing a clockwise lobe.
- Backward two-foot turnBoth turn from backwards to forwards, and the mohawk changes feet as it turns.
