Two rotations backwards on an outside edge, out on the same edge. This is the one asked for at the top of the Skills syllabus, and in ice dance it is done alongside a partner where the two sets of curls are compared with each other.
Nothing about it is new after a single; all of it is harder. The rotation has to be metered so that the second turn is as strong as the first, and the check at the end has to arrive on an edge that has been running for twice as long.
Derived
RBO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): right foot, backwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.
RBO double twizzle to RBO: 2 rotations on one foot, travelling, leaving 2 curls in the tracing and no cusp anywhere. The lobe continues, because a curl cannot curve against itself.
A skater who rotates the other way does the same thing from LBO. Same element, mirrored.
Build on
- Right backward outside edgeRBO: the right foot travelling backwards on an outside edge, tracing an anticlockwise lobe.
- Right backward outside twizzleRBO to RBO: 1 rotation on one foot, travelling, one curl and no cusp.
