Entrance

shoulder to hip —on the —
LBO takeoff off a long edge, off the right toe pick · two rotations · RBO landing. Negative twist means the shoulders are held back against the hips, which stores rotation before a takeoff and checks it on a landing.

The Lutz with a second turn. The long back outside edge, the pick placed behind and the vault are the single’s, and so is what makes it hard: the rotation runs against the curve you have been tracing.

With two turns to find, the temptation is to start turning before the pick goes in. Let the shoulders come round early and the edge rolls from outside to inside, and the jump becomes a double flip whatever it was meant to be. The fault shows in the shoulder line long before the takeoff.

That is why both the Lutz and the flip can carry an edge call on a protocol sheet. Hold the outside edge to the moment the pick goes in, and the jump stays a Lutz.

Derived

LBO is three letters (foot, direction, edge): left foot, backwards, outside edge. Every edge in the guide is written that way, so RBI is a right foot travelling backwards on an inside edge.

Takes off LBO and lands RBO, the same edge every jump in this guide but the Euler lands on, so the takeoff is what tells them apart. The toe pick provides the vault.

No other double takes off from LBO. That is exactly why it drifts: roll onto the other edge and it becomes a different jump entirely.

The Lutz with one more turn in the air: the same takeoff and the same landing.

Lands on RBO, where the toe loop and the loop take off, so it can start a combination: double Lutz + double toe loop or double Lutz + double loop.

A skater who rotates clockwise takes off RBO and lands LBO: the same jump, mirrored.
