Backward crossovers · RBO · step forward to LFO, on one circle. Negative twist means the shoulders are held back against the hips, which stores rotation before a takeoff and checks it on a landing.

Back crossovers round a circle, the back outside edge held, then a step forward onto the forward outside edge of the other foot, still on the same circle. The circle carries on in the same direction throughout; only the way you face changes.

The step forward is the one in front of the waltz jump, the Axel and most forward spins, so it is worth practising on its own. The new blade has to go down on the curve, pointing along it, with the hips turning to face forwards at the same moment. Put down across the curve, it scrapes and stops.

Skate it both ways round, because a programme will ask for the step in the direction you like less.
